Founder
Charles Smart’s professional pursuits and personal passions have led him down an unlikely 20 year path intertwining technology, marketing, international trade and philanthropy. He built a career around IT with a focus on data, helping Fortune 500 companies at all levels across disparate industries to make more informed decisions, monetize their assets, reduce risk and achieve compliance.
In 2006 he founded Go Media Marketing and built it into an award winning marketing and outdoor advertising agency. He sold the agency in 2011 to pursue what seemed at the time like a far fetched ambition. However, his experience, a rich family heritage and the support of business partners enabled him to re-establish the trading of Columbite Tantalite (coltan) in Sierra Leone. At one point becoming the largest exporter of coltan to China in the Mano River Union (Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea). His international business experience, travel and living between Freetown Sierra Leone, Shanghai, London and Miami has allowed him to gain a wealth of knowledge and relationships.
Decoding Legacy is a culmination of his life experience and passion believing that the continent of Africa is the future and final frontier. He believes that those with the vision now can seize the opportunity to be a part of its future success while making an impact on the lives of those living there.
Philanthropy is a passion he discovered after uncovering a hidden talent to 🎨paint. Enter “Mark Phi”. Through my “Impact Model”, in partnership with non profit organizations across the globe (China, Europe, West Africa, the Caribbean and North America) Mark Phi Creations has helped charitable organizations raise millions of 💸dollars towards their cause and those in need ultimately.
This unlikely path has contributed to his entrepreneurial development, global outlook and an ability to lead, connect and motivate people.
